Janie Dobney has been tattooing since August 2024. She specializes in creating mixed-style tattoos, primarily working with black and white ink, though she enjoys adding pops of color when the design calls for it. Her favorite designs feature flowing and moving elements.

Art has always been a huge part of Janie’s life. She has spent years drawing with graphite pencils and painting with India inks, and that passion carries over into every tattoo she creates. Her goal is to bring creative energy to her clients' self-expression, crafting original pieces that truly reflect them.

Whether someone is getting a fun, carefree design or a meaningful milestone tattoo, Janie is dedicated to collaborating with them every step of the way. She believes that good communication makes for great tattoos, so she encourages clients to share all their references and ideas, excited to hear what inspires them.

 FAQs

  • An apprenticeship is an internship. I am a tattoo artist under guidance.

  • Fill out the request form on our website: Ultrashadetattoos.com/request-form

    This helps me keep requests organized and it is usually simpler for both of us than messaging back and forth on Instagram.

    I do not have closed books, message any time! My weekends fill up quickly, but week days usually have some flexibility.

  • Please plan to be hydrated and fed. Wear clothing with access to the area being tattooed. Do not be under the influence of substances. Bring a valid drivers license or ID. Please get cleared by a medical professional if you have any concerns about medical conditions.

  • I am fine with sending designs ahead of time! Please just make it clear when you book or email me if you want your design before the appointment. I will probably not send it unprompted.


    I will not draw for you before you book an appointment. Tattoo designs take anywhere from 1-4+ hours and it is my policy to protect my energy for current paying clients. You can check out my flash for ideas that are pre-drawn!

  • I do black and white tattoos with pops of color. I am interested in designs of all sizes. I am a mixed style artist, so suggest anything!

    Special interests include:

    Custom birds, rocks, statues, trees, water, human anatomy, abstract, pieces that include sketchy elements and flowing elements.

    I cannot tattoo you if you are a minor, pregnant or If you have an injury or sunburn on the spot I plan to tattoo. I will not tattoo heads or genitals. If you have skin conditions you want tattooed over or around please mention it when you fill out your form. I like to design with them in mind.

  • I always give a free estimate when you message me, no strings attached. My prices are $100.00 minimum and usually range from $75-100/an hour past that minimum.


    I estimate price per project and I do not change my quote without discussion with client. I will sometimes charge a more for torso placements or very complicated custom drawings. If you communicate up front I will gladly work with you and figure out what is possible within your budget.
